Equipment Requirements and Suggestions

Bikes

Kids should bring their own bikes where possible for consistency, but bikes must have two working disc brakes, appropriate off-road tires, and at least working front suspension. Kickstands are a hazard when Mountain Biking and should be removed. If you’re unable to remove it yourself, show up early and we can do that for you. If you’re unsure about a bike’s suitability, let us know and we’ll be happy to take a look at it before the session.

If your child does not own a bike, please let us know at the time of booking, and we will reserve a $30 rental bike for you.

Gear

Kids should bring their own equipment, if they have it, but a Full face Helmet, Knee Armour, and appropriate closed-toe footwear are required for all lessons. Elbow armour, gloves and eye protection (goggles or riding glasses) are strongly recommended. Full Face helmet, Knee & Elbow Armour, and Gloves will be supplied if needed.

Please check the weather forecast before leaving home for the Adventure Park. Conditions can be different at the top of the lift and the weather can change during the day, so depending on the weather forecast, consider bringing a warm and/or waterproof layer, and don’t forget those extra snacks in a hydration pack.

Ability Levels

Beginners (levels 1-2)
Ideal for those who can ride a bike but have little to no mountain biking experience. Your Instructor will help you master the fundamentals of mountain biking, help you through any bad habits and show you how to tackle common obstacles on the Green and easier Blue trails. These sessions are designed to build a solid foundation of skill to comfortably progress into our intermediate sessions

Intermediate (levels 3-4)
This is for riders who are familiar with the fundamentals of mountain biking and are keen to develop their riding on more challenging terrain (Grade 3-4). Some additional techniques will be covered at this level, e.g. Cornering, advanced Brake Control, Line Choice, Jumps and Drops.

Advanced (levels 5-6)
Full shredder alert!! Our advanced groups are comfortable with the skills and techniques of Downhill riding. This group will focus on more challenging terrain, alternative techniques & line choices, and becoming a smoother more confident rider.
